Law Clerk
Tang & Associates, P.C. (Flushing, New York) seeking full-time Law Clerk. Conducting complex legal research utilizing primary and secondary legal source materials related to case. Gathering and compiling facts and relevant case documents from clients, witnesses, and attorneys in English and/or Mandarin-Chinese for case filing. Preparing, drafting, and processing standardized legal forms and documents, such as motions, petitions, orders, affidavits, stipulations, and other court documents; reviewing that all files, complaints and other papers are available and in the proper order. Preparing, drafting and processing documents, such as deeds, leases, mortgages, wills, prenuptial or postnuptial agreements, Power of Attorney, contracts, Memorandum of Understanding and other documents in English and/or Mandarin-Chinese; reviewing same for correct, accuracy, and timeliness. Drawing up briefs, memoranda, letters, reports, legal opinions, complaints, analysis or statements of issues involved in cases; reviewing same for correct, accuracy, and timeliness. Exploring and studying legal documents for determining causes of action, examining US and Chinese laws, precedents, facts, or other information related to cases, and preparing cases. Keeping abreast of changes in both US laws and Chinese laws and informing lawyers when cases may be affected by such changes. Communicating and interacting with clients in English and/or Mandarin-Chinese.

Requires a Master’s Degree in Law & fluency in Mandarin-Chinese including reading, writing and speaking.

Attorneys: 

  1. Graduated from law school with a J.D. or LL.M. Degree;
  2. Admitted to practice in US (NY) or China;
  3. Law firm working experiencenot mandatary but preferred;
  4. Familiar with formal legal writing styles in both Chinese and English and able to draft legal documentsindependently;
  5. Excellent communication skills and strong team spirit;
  6. Self-motivated, professional, physically fit and able to work under substantial pressure;
  7. Working permit is required; qualified candidate may be sponsored for H-1b.

Paralegals/ Legal Assistants: 

  1. Graduated froma law school or a paralegal certificate program from a college;
  2. Law Firm working experience is preferred;
  3. Excellent communication skills and strong team spirit;
  4. Bilingual (English / Chinese);
  5. Working permit is required; qualified candidate may be sponsored for H-1b.

Interns:

We may have internship available from time to time, which may include short term intern, program intern, summer intern and long term intern (up to one year).  Internship may be paid or unpaid.  Intern will be provided a referral letter upon satisfactory completion of the internship and may lead to a law firm position when available.
